Our Mission

At Grayson’s Promise, we exist to keep a sacred vow; that no grieving parent should ever feel alone. This promise was born out of love and loss, made in honor of our son Grayson, whose brief but beautiful life continues to shape everything we do. In the raw, quiet moments that follow the loss of a child, when the world feels shattered and hope feels unreachable, we step in gently, carrying what feels too heavy to carry alone.

We know that in the earliest days of grief, hope doesn’t always feel visible. It hides beneath the ache, beneath the silence, beneath the weight of what should have been. That’s why we offer comfort, connection, and remembrance, not just for today, but for the days when healing begins to take root. When families can’t yet see the hope, we plant it for them, tucking it gently into care packages, support cards, keepsakes, and quiet moments of kindness, trusting it will bloom when they’re ready.

Because even in the darkest seasons, tiny seeds of hope can grow.

And through Grayson’s Promise, we’ll keep planting them, again and again, until the light returns. ❤️

Our Story:

Grayson’s Promise was born from the deepest kind of love, a love that endures even after loss. On July 29th, 2024, our son Grayson Daniel Smoot entered the world silently, but his impact has echoed loudly in the hearts of everyone who hears his name. Though we never got to watch him grow, Grayson’s life holds purpose, and his story continues through the mission we carry forward in his name.

In the wake of unimaginable grief, we found ourselves searching for meaning, craving connection, healing, and a way to honor our son. That’s how Grayson’s Promise came to life. What began as a promise to never let his memory fade has grown into a heartfelt movement to support, comfort, and uplift other families walking the same heartbreaking path.

Through care packages, grief support, and awareness efforts, we hope to remind every parent who’s lost a child that they are not alone. Grayson may not be here in the way we dreamed, but his legacy is one of compassion, connection, and hope; proof that even the smallest footprints can leave the deepest imprints.

Each bundle includes gentle reminders of remembrance and hope, such as things like a sympathy card, a packet of wildflower seeds to plant in memory, an affirmation bookmark, or a symbolic token of love. It’s our way of saying: You were a mother. Your baby mattered. You are not alone.

Throughout the first year, we’ll send a hand-addressed card with words of comfort, encouragement, and remembrance. Some include quotes. Some include short letters from other loss moms. All of them are created with love and understanding, arriving at just the right time, when she may need it most.

Keepsake Requests

Every grieving mother deserves something tangible to hold onto—something created just for her, in honor of her baby. Through the Grayson’s Promise Sponsored Keepsakes program, families can apply to receive a meaningful, personalized item to help remember and honor their child.

No family should ever have to leave the hospital with empty arms, but when they do, we want them to know they are not alone. Our care packages are lovingly created for families who have just experienced the unimaginable loss of their baby. Today, we remember Julietta Rose Hogan 🤍

Her mama, Morgan, shared:

*“On February 11th, 2025, we discovered we were pregnant with our 5th baby — our 3rd under 3 years old. Despite being anxious at first, we quickly grew excited about our new little addition. Our 8- and 12-week scans were perfect, and at 16 weeks we found out baby was a girl!

At 20 weeks, we learned she had passed just 24 hours prior to my scan. Julietta Rose was born sleeping on June 11th, 2025. Despite extensive testing, we received no answers as to why this happened.

One item that has helped me through this was a children’s book my husband and I placed on Julietta’s shelf: Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. This story resonates with me, as it was written from the lullaby he sang to his two babies after they were stillborn.”*

💗 Morgan shared that she is also currently experiencing another loss and recovering from a recent miscarriage. Our hearts are with her as she continues to navigate this painful journey with courage and love.

Julietta’s story reminds us that love between a parent and child never ends, it grows beyond time, beyond this world, forever.

💙 Honoring the Dads 💙

During Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we’ve spent this month sharing the stories of so many brave mothers and their precious babies. But today, we want to take a moment to honor another group of incredible souls who often go unseen, the dads.

The fathers who sit quietly beside hospital beds.
Who hold their partners when their own hearts are breaking. Who carry the weight of trying to stay strong while their world falls apart. Who grieve silently, often without being asked how they are.

These men love deeply, feel deeply, and mourn deeply, even if they show it differently.

Cory, my husband, has been my rock through every wave of this journey. He has stood beside me, supported me through every storm, and carried more than any one person should have to bear. In his own quiet way, he’s shown what strength, love, and fatherhood truly look like, even when it means sacrificing his own healing to make sure I’m okay.

Today, we honor every dad who has loved and lost. The ones who have held tiny hands, whispered final goodbyes, and still find the courage to keep showing up.

When we visited with hospital staff let us know there are a few items that are desperately needed, small and often overlooked things that make a big difference, especially for moms who are alone or without support.

They may seem simple… but when you’re grieving, in pain, and trying to survive hour by hour, these items can feel like lifelines. The truth is, we hadn’t thought of some of them, but nurses see firsthand what these mothers reach for when no one is there to help.

We don’t want any mama to receive a half-filled bag… not after all she’s already lost.

Our story:

Grayson Daniel Smoot was born in Lexington, KY on July 29th at 6:32 am. He was born premature at 18 weeks gestation. Unfortunately, because he was not viable outside the womb he passed shortly after birth.

My whole life I have dreamed of being a mother. My husband and I have spent the last 10 years trying to make that dream a reality. 10 years of fertility treatments - countless medicated cycles, 3 IUIs, 2 egg retrievals, 3 transfers, 2 early miscarriages and we finally made it to our miracle. Or so we thought.

The weeks went by and slowly I started feeling more comfortable, feeling like I may actual become a mother, I may actually hold a baby in my arms. That all come crashing down on the night of 7/23/24. We had made it to 17 weeks when I started having pains and started gushing blood. We rushed to the hospital to find that I was 2cm dilated and my membranes were bulging. After numerous doctors begged me to terminate, due to risk of my life - I couldn’t do it. So,I lay upside down for 5 days in that position until my waters ruptured and I went into labor again. Sweet Grayson was born that morning.

After loosing Grayson, I lost all sense of myself. I was a shell of who I used to be. I think we don’t realize immediately that we will never be our old self again. We will never be the person who walked into that hospital. That person is gone. Now, we have to learn ourselves again. Who are we and what can we become while living with our grief? One day it hit me - I woke up and realized what I was missing. I was missing my child of course, but I was also missing what made me the happiest - giving back to those around me. I founded another non profit in 2020 that rescues animals and does community projects. It is what keeps me sane. I pulled back from it when Grayson passed. But, I need that feeling again - but I also needed to hold Grayson close.

I’m not sure what direction this non profit will take. But, I know this is where God and Grayson are leading me now. This is the path I need to be on. Someone out there needs some hope and Grayson is laying down the seeds for that hope to sprout.

One day at a time. You are not alone.

As the messages of support started to poor in after my loss they began to feel overwhelming. Most as just words… sympathetic words and people offering their support. But, when you’re so overwhelmed with grief - words don’t mean much. They are nice to see, but don’t really make a difference.

Except for one message that I received. It stuck with me -

“ I pray against any thoughts that would creep into your mind! You did what you could, your body tried, you were a good mama to your boy; because a good mama is not measured by the time she has with her child and what they did, but it’s measured in the heart of that mama and the lengths she was willing to go for her child. And I know YOU were willing to do anything everything for him. I know you would’ve gone to the ends of the earth for your Grayson AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD MAMA.

Idk where life takes you from here. But don’t lose hope. Don’t get lost in the grief. Grieve and mourn the life you had envisioned with your baby boy. And allow yourself that mental and emotional space. But don’t make your home there, you’re strong, you deserve joy and happiness so don’t be robbed of that when the time comes to experience those things again. “

When she said, “don’t make your home there”. I instantly felt justified in my grief. Justified to stay here as long as I needed - but to retain the ability to recognize when I started to make it home. When it started to feel more normal then every day life. That was the moment I knew - the moment I knew it was time to get up and do something. Get back to some kind of normal routine. To honor my son and not disappoint him.

I come back to her words often. They remind me I am a mama, I did the best I could, I’m not to blame, it’s okay to grieve, but to know your limits. I often need these reminders daily. It’s okay to slip back into the grief. We are not the same person we once was. This is a daily journey to learning to live with the new life that we didn’t ask for.

But, always remember - You are a mama. You are not to blame. You grieve as long as you want. But, don’t make your home there. One day at a time. ❤️
